Trophy for first prize at the Open Instrumental Class at the Coalville Festival of Music

Patricia Woodings has won first prize in the Open Instrumental Class at the Coalville Festival of Music held at the Newbridge High School, Coalville on 12 May 2012. Patricia played Variations on a Welsh Theme by Peter Kneale and was awarded a Distinction by the Adjudicator Peter Wells for an excellent performance technically and artistically.

Newhall Band has won third place at the Midlands Area Brass Band Championship, and an invitation to the national finals in Cheltenham in September.

Shiela Dixon and Jo Priestley won first prize in the open duet class on Sunday 17 April with a cornet and euphonium duet based on Donizetti's 'Lucia Di Lammermoor' arranged by E Newton.

North East Midlands Brass Band Association contest 2011 - best bass section

The band's bass players caught the judges' ears at the North East Midlands Brass Band Association contest, hosted by Rolls Royce in Derby on Sunday 20 February and won the trophy for best bass section. Bass players on the day were Patrick Marklew, Julian Hackett, Colin Clulow and Simon Collison. The test piece was the 2011 4th section area test piece; Prelude, Song and Dance by John Golland.

Soprano cornet player Gary Stokes won best soloist at the annual West Midlands Brass Bands Association Contest, held at Leamington Spa on Sunday, 21 Nov 2010. At this own-choice contest, Newhall chose to play The Four Noble Truths by Philip Sparke.
